Meet The Cast of DEVILS DON'T FORGET - Justin Warren

Justin Warren is back for a second round with The Mammals! Playing his 4th consecutive monster/villain, Justin has come to terms with the fact that he will never play a funny role again. Unless, of course, someone writes a part for him of a wise-cracking monster... hint... hint. You might have seen him, but not recognized him (due to extensive make-up and/or mask) as The Moon in Oracle's "Blood Wedding", as Mr. Utterson in The Mammals' "The Dream Journal Of Dr. Jekyll", or as Blood Orange Jack in Tympanic's "Orange Orbs". Justin is survived by his lovely and supportive girlfriend, Sasha, who he is hoping to go on many adventures with in the near future.

Sarah Koerner studied Theatre Performance at Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. She received her BFA in 2008 and, after working on the east coast for a couple years, made the move to Chicago in 2010. Since then she has trained with IO and One Group Mind. She is now a company member for One Group Mind and performs with them regularly at the Mayne Stage. Last spring she also took part in Zombies Attack Chicago's production of Zombie Truth Now. This is Sarah's first performance with the Chicago Mammals and she has enjoyed every deranged moment of it. She looks forward to working with them again in 2012 in the production of All Girl Moby Dick (come see it!).

Erin Orr as the Demonic Father in DEVILS DON'T FORGET!

ERIN ELIZABETH ORR is thrilled to be working in her wonderful artistic home (with such a fantastic group of people!) after last being seen in "Seven Snakes" (The Daughter), "Put My ____ In Your ____" (Birdie), and the reading of "The Empty Grave" (Annabelle). She has also been lucky enough to work with such Chicago companies as the Right Brain Project, The Factory, Speaking Ring Theater, WNEP Theater, InFusion Theater, Per Diem, Point of Contention Theater, Silent Theater, Bootstraps Comedy Theater, Bendsinister Theater, and The Nine. She had the magical opportunity to play with Don Hall and Joe Janes in Sketchfest 2011, 365 Sketches Project, and the 50 Plays Project! Originally and proudly from Texas, she spent time as an acting intern at Milwaukee Repertory Theater before making her move to the Windy City. Her next project will be working on The Mammals' "All Girl Moby Dick"as Ishmael. Thanks to Bob for this great opportunity and Justin for being an awesome character partner!

Dennis Frymire talks about his second go at DEVILS DON'T FORGET!

The following entry was written by Chicago Mammals company member Dennis Frymire about what it was like to revisit the lead character of Buster in DEVILS DON'T FORGET.

"My first time playing Buster – the show’s second production - happened in May 2009, in the Right Brain Project space, up on the fourth floor of 4001 N. Ravenswood. A month after the show closed, Bob asked Susan Myburgh (Girl 1) and I to come back in for some pictures to use in a graphic novel version of the  play. Putting the costumes (and bandages) back on after only a few weeks after the production was over, it felt bizarre. An odd analogy, but I imagined this is what it feels like for television actors when they go back do to a reunion special for an old series.
Remounting the show two-and-a-half years later, I expected to have that same odd feeling as we went back in to rehearsal. I’m glad to say that’s not the case. The show is very much the same – we are after all working with the same script – but since the very first week, it has felt very different too. For one, the rest of the cast is new, save for Don, Gabe, and I. The next cast members are obviously giving their different takes on the characters. And even in the short scenes that are just Don, Gabe, and I, we’re finding and exploring options we didn’t the last time around.
As for myself, and how I’m approaching Buster differently this go-around, my biggest goal is to bring a little more humanity to the poor guy. A couple of years ago, I got very caught up in the idea of playing the square-jawed leading man – not a role I typically play – and I took the proceedings very seriously. This time, I’m trying to find a little more humor, and make Buster a little more likable. There’s not much levity in the show, aside from the few Abbott and Costello-esque antics Udo (Don) and Dum Dum (Gabe) provide, but I’m trying to find these moments while I can, while staying true to Bob’s vision.
And all that’s not to mention the cool video projections Bob and Warwick are concocting, which is sure to enhance a script so immersed in film noir.
The upshot is, even if you saw the show last time (or time before), The Mammals have a very different show this time around. I hope you’ll come check it out."

5 Reasons you should come out to see
DEVILS DON'T FORGET

1. Great Word of Mouth - Some of our friends from local scene and blogosphere have said very flattering things about the show.

Darren Callahan's write up
Angry White Guy
Local Tourist Review
Wildclaw!

2. Good Looking Actors running around in their underwear - OK, somebody out there probably thinks this is some sort of exploitation, but hey! They knew we were taken their pictures for a reason!

3. The Local Rags Gave Us Good Ink

Chicago Tribune
Timeout
Chicago Reader

4. Whereas there are lots of fantastic theatre companies in Chicago, nobody else is quite like the Chicago Mammals!

5. The Chicago theatre scene is incredibly diverse. There is something for just about everyone's taste. The foundation of that amazing menagerie of experience is the small storefront theatre scene in this town! Supporting a company like the Mammals not only helps us bring you more work... it helps the entire theatre community. It is amazing all the little ways in which all of us who see and do theatre in this town are connected! A butterfly gives a fifteen dollar donation to see a show in a non-traditional space and tornado of art and excitement is what we all profit!

If you seen the show, or any Mammals show - Thank You!

If you are going out to the theatre this weekend to see any of our fellow Chicago small storefront companies - Thank You!

If you help us spread the word about our show - Thank You!

BTW (Here it comes) 2 performances left for our latest DEVILS DON'T FORGET!
